The Blind Side has a special story behind it that is very inspirational. After watching this movie it will make you want to watch it again. It just came out this year and has very good reviews.
Michael Oher is a young teenage African boy. He comes from a family of 16. He is not close with much of his family. He never knows when he will see them next. He has been in many foster homes, but never seems to stay. He runs away and is currently living on the street as a homeless boy.
He goes to the same school as Leigh Tuohy's, son SJ. One evening Michael is spotted walking around in the rain by himself. Leigh Tuohy decides to let him stay with her and her family for a night. Leigh Touhy is quite wealthy and isn't known as the person to let a homeless African American live in her home. She and her family are judged, by her act of kindness. Many of their friends thinks she is crazy. Despite all of the gossiping, she has a kind enough heart and helps Michael live his life at its fullest. After one night of staying at the Touhy home, he is then welcomed to be part of the family.
The family loves football. Michael tries out the sport and is naturally good at it. He is being scouted from football coaches all around the states. There are many teams that would like to have him. Michael and his new family face a lot of challenges.
Leigh Tuohy is very thoughtful and kind. She has changed a boys life by giving him a great home. He was once homeless with nothing more than one set of clothes. He ate leftovers in the garbage's and slept in a laundry mat. Leigh Tuohy has changed all of that for him. He now has all of the best. But the most inspiring thing that Michael now has is a family that loves him. Michael was once poor but now has made millions of dollars.
Bringing this boy into the Tuohy family has not only changed Michael's life, but the whole families.
This movie will inspire you to never give up hope, and to keep trying. Even when you think you will be judged, you should still do the right thing.

William Kamkwaba
It is absolutely amazing how a 14 year old boy, William Kamkwaba could invent something so powerful without an education. He invented a windmill from very few parts that he found in a junkyard. This story gives us hope that if we follow our dreams anything is possible. Building a windmill in North America is not that hard because of the education and technology that we have today. William Kamkawaba was only 14 years old. He was from a poor country called Malawi. Over there they do no have any technology or electricity, that is why it is so amazing.
Many 14 year olds in Canada could not even imagine building something like a windmill. Even though we have an education it would still be very difficult for us to do. I could probably not even make a windmill if there was a diagram right in front of me. Many of us do not need to build stuff like that, because in Canada we get almost everything handed to us. We do not have to make our own electricity, it comes to us as easy as flicking a light switch on. In Malawi they do not have electricity like we do here.
This is a very touching and powerful story. If more people hear this story then they would maybe have the courage to help. Microsoft Word and Online Documentning
Microsoft Word and online documenting are two types of documenting programs. They both allow you to type paragraphs, make lists and many more types of writing. You can check your spelling by clicking an easy button. You can change the type of format or font. You can bold, italicize, and underline one word or the whole document. The page set up is how the page will look when it is printed. The online documenting program is more difficult to view the page set up, because if you have a space in your piece of writing, where there should not be a space, it can mess up your whole document.
The majority of people are more familiar with word rather than online documenting. This is why I like using word better. I have used it since I was little and I know how to use it better. Some may argue that online documenting is a better thing to learn. They would say this because when you are online you can save it and will have it where ever you go. (where ever there is a computer that goes online) Instead of saving your documents to a memory stick, you can just save it on the google account, or the online documenting account. However documenting online is more difficult to use. It is more complex to use, because it is a challenge to view how the page will be set up. Multi Touch Screen with Photosynth
Photosynth and the multi touch screen are two amazing new technologies.
Photosynth is a creation where many images on the web that have been tagged are then put into one image. You can take each picture and make it separate from the rest. It gives you better quality of that image. You can zoom in or out as far as you want.
The Multi Touch Screen is almost like a smart table. It allows more than one person at a time to touch the screen. It can zoom in or out. It can entertain you.
If both of these inventions of technology were combined it would be really neat. I would use it to find pictures on the web, and make those pictures the size and quality I need. I would use it to play games and watch movies. It would be great entertainment. If these two devices were combined we could use the photosynth and multi touch screen for so many different reasons. One Laptop per child
The video "One Laptop per Child" is really cool. It explains to us how many children all over the world do not have an education. The XO company is trying to change that. They have invented a computer that is much similar to a laptop. It has two ways to charge this device. You can plug it in like every other computer we have, or you can turn a handle that is on the side of it. Once you turn it, it will power it up. It has a screen that is lit up by sunlight. Its screen is able to rotate. You can get the internet off of this by connecting with other laptops. It is an amazing device that is also very protected and will be difficult to damage, it is one that can handle diffucult conditions.
They are a non-profit organization. The kids are their mission. This organiziation will help improve the education of children all over the world. The educational level has gone down tremedously in the poorer countries, like Africa. Allowing these laptops to be used over there for free will help these children learn.

Driving While Texting
Today we watched a video called Driving While Texting. This video showed us the damages texting and driving can do. It can cause major accidents. Texting and driving is compared to drinking under the influence. It can take away from your vision, and the most obvious distractions on the road can be blinding to your sight. Your Brian is not concentrating on the road, but on your texts.
In this video a nineteen year old male was driving and texting at the same time. He clipped the side of a car, and the car went spinning into a semi driver. The two people in the car were killed instantly at the scene, leaving behind their families. The driver who was texting and driving, now has to live with a huge burden of killing two men.
I did not realize how dangerous texting and driving can be. We see people do it all the time. This video has made me think and reaize that anytime you text you are risking your life, and anyone elses who is driving on the same road. You can make a simple mistake and lose consentration and end up in an accident. Texting and driving is dangerous! We should be responsible drivers and respect others. Wireless Electricity
The video Wireless Electricity was telling us how engineers have invented wireless electricity. Wireless electricity is enabling us to charge devices without plugging them in. This way we can limit down on the number of batteries we use. About 40 thousand batteries are manufactured in a year. Once all these batteries die, they all go to the dump. This causes environment pollution.
MIT Physicists is a group that invents WiTricity. WiTricity is simply wireless electricity. Wireless electricity was invented to make it easier and cheaper for us to use. It is also healthier for us to use because it has no radiation currents. It is also healthier for our environment.
Resonant electricity transfer, comes from WiTricity technology. Resonance can use magnetic coils to get electrical currents from other devices that are plugged in, and use their electrical current to power the device. It is the efficient energy exchange between tuned resonant objects. It gives off very little energy transferred to extraneous or off-resonant objects.

The Changing Web
The Internet is changing in many ways today. From when the web first came out it has grown drastically. The web is still changing today and will continue to change in the future. We use the Internet for many different reasons. The internet can be used by the young or the old. The Internet has made large numbers of peoples lives alot easier in many ways. It enables us to communicate faster and keep in touch more easily. We can also get information alot faster and eaiser too.
Since the Internet was invented it has changed the way people communicate, get information, and the way people work.
The Internet was not invented by a single person or company. It was developed by a team of experts. The start of inventing the Internet began in 1957. In 1992 Internet access was available for the common public and the use of the Internet was then expanded worldwide. After the Internet was invented experts invented many websites and pages. There are also many ways to keep in touch with people from all over the world. We can use web cam, or chat lines.
"I keep in touch with family and friends all over the country, through e-mail and a personal photo blog." (Gene) The Internet is easy to keep in touch with people from all over the world. We can use the Internet at anytime of night or day. We can unite and even meet new people online. Siftables
Technology is growing. It is advancing in many different ways and for many different reasons.
Siftables were created by David Merrill and Jeevan Kalanithi. Siftables are little computers that give us the ability to engage in many different activities. Siftables are tiny computers, once they connect they interact with one another. You can create music with this new device. When these little devices connect we can add different instruments, change the tune, slow or speed up the sound, or turn up or down the volume. I think that these are really neat little objects because there is ever changing things you can do with them. You can also use siftables for educational purposes. You can play spelling games or you can learn mathematical games, or facts. This is a device that you will never get bored with, and it is also educational, so I think that people will invest in this product.

'SixthSense' is a wearable gestural interface that argues the physical world around us with digital information and lets us use natural hand gestures to interact with that information. The "sixthsense" was made in the MIT Media Lab. For the sixthsense to work you wear a the sixthsense prototype which is comprised of a pocket projector, a mirror and a camera. This enables us to find information really easy. You can write on walls or on almost any surface. For example, if you want to know the time you can draw a watch and it will give you the time. The sixthsense will become very useful in our everyday lives. Once this technology becomes advanced, it will most likely be used world wide.

Epic 2014
Today we watched a video called Epic 2014.
This video talked about all of the websites that already exist. They are from Amazon to Google to many more sites that we have today. It was telling us about how the media and the expanding of the Internet will grow and change in the future. This video is explaining to us how little websites can become big and grow over time. In the future we will have so much advanced technology that people will start putting false information on their blogs and post it to the web.
This video was trying to take out Google. Google was trying to take out the New York Times. Google is basically stealing the New York Times news stories and posting it on the web for free. Google is taking away the New York Times money because more people will rather look up their news for free than to pay for their news stories. I believe that Google is in the wrong.

My generation is the generation you want to live in. It is the generation scrolling up. If everyone works together and realizes that family is better than wealth we will have the generation that we used to have.
